2026 Fall Forum - Washington, DC

September 15th - 16th, 2026

We are looking forward to hosting our annual Fall Forum in Washington, D.C.  This will be a great opportunity to collaborate and network, while enjoying our nation's capital.

We'll be hosting a golf event before the forum on Tuesday, September 9th.  Be sure to sign up during registration if you'd like to golf.

Speaker - Lew Lukens

Lew previously served for 30 years as a US Foreign Service officer, representing the US overseas across five administrations and five continents. Among his many assignments, Lew served as US Ambassador to Senegal and Guinea-Bissau, Deputy Executive Secretary for Secretary Hillary Clinton, Senior Director at the National Security Council working for Dr. Condoleezza Rice and President Bush, and US Consul General in Vancouver.

 

Most recently, Lew was the Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in London. Lew also worked in Baghdad, Dublin, Sydney, Abidjan, and Guangzhou, as well as multiple tours in Washington. At the National Security Council, he helped to coordinate the US government response to the 9/11 terror attacks. Lew has an AB from Princeton University and received his MPP from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs.

Speaker - Brian Payne

Brian is BCA’s Chief Strategist for Private Markets & Alternatives service. In this role, he runs comprehensive and unbiased data analysis. He establishes forward-looking expectations across the spectrum of private markets and alternatives, including private equity, private credit, hedge funds, and real estate.

Before joining BCA Research in 2022, Brian was an Investment Officer at the Teachers’ Retirement System of Illinois, where he restructured and oversaw a $5+ billion multi-asset portfolio. Previously, he was a buy-side researcher and trader at Potomac River Capital, LLC.

 

He began his career in wealth management, advising RIAs on alternative investments and asset allocation.

2026 Winter Forum - Salt Lake City, UT

March 2nd - 4th, 2026​

Forum attendees were wowed by the speakers and insights that were shared, especially on the heels of the many military conflicts impacting the economy.  Grant Johnsey joined us once again to discuss global macro issues and Rachel Ziemba offered unique insights on the the global conflicts.  Daniel Pietrzak from KKR spoke on the investment landscape.

2025 Fall Forum - Hilton Head, SC

September 10th - 11th, 2025

Forum attendees were able to enjoy the beautiful setting of Hilton Head Island, SC.  The group got to hear from Grant Johnsey and Peter Vidmar.  Outside of the speakers and content, attendees were able to enjoy golfing, pickleball, and kayaking.

2025 Winter Forum - Salt Lake City, UT

March 3rd - 5th, 2025​

Forum attendees got to hear from Jeff Blazek, co-CIO at Neuberger Berman; Alex Smith, former NFL Quarterback and Venture Partner at Section Partners; and panels on 2025 allocation and artificial intelligence.  We enjoyed another beautiful day of skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing at Snowbasin Resort

2024 Fall Forum - Richmond, VA

September 17th - 18th, 2024

HUGO's first East coast event.  Hosted at the historic and beautiful Jefferson Hotel in downtown Richmond.  Attendees heard from Daniel Dart (Founder of Rockyard Ventures) and visited the Civil War and Historic Vallentine Museums.  Over 30 LPs joined the 21 GP invitees.

2024 Winter Forum - Salt Lake City, Utah

March 4th - 5th, 2024

HUGO's 2024 annual Winter Forum was our largest forum to date.  Over 40 LPs joined us at the Grand America in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Randal K. Quarles (former Vice-Chair of the Federal Reserve) and Jake Siewert (former Counselor to the Sec. of the Treasury during the GFC) spoke to the group.  The attendees also enjoyed a day of skiing and snowshoeing at Snowbasin Resort.

2023 Winter Forum - Salt Lake City, UT

February 28th - March 2nd, 2023

HUGO's first Winter Forum.  Brad Wilson (Head of Private Credit at Blackstone) addressed the forum.  Over 200 GP-LP meetings were arranged and the attendees took advantage of 6 inches of fresh Utah powder on the slopes.  This all added up to a memorable first ever Winter forum.

2022 Fall Forum - Deer Valley, Utah

October 4th - 5th

HUGO's first ever in-person event was hosted in the beautiful and majestic mountains of Deer Valley.  Attendees networking on scenic hikes among the changing leaves of autumn and over ice curling activities.  Speakers were Mark Everitt (Head of Investment Research and Strategy for Blackrock Alts), Paula Roberts (Head of CREM Investing at KKR), and Gary Herbert (US Head of Global Tactical Asset Allocation for J.P. Morgan).
